Katia Mow has been our babysitter/nanny on and off for 9 years. She has cared for both of our children since they were infants and I trust her unequivocally. Katia is a part of our family. She has the biggest heart and adores our children like they are her own. She is responsible, caring, enthusiastic and loving at all times (with our family and with her own, as we have had her family visit us several times). She actively engages with our kids, challenges them academically, helps them make creative project and loves running around outside with them. She has made snowmen with them, held dance parties with them, taught them Spanish and helped enforce our beliefs about manners, responsibility and respect. We have left her alone with our children for several days/nights at a time when we have travelled without them and knew they were getting the best love and care possible in our absence. She has also travelled extensively with our family and it is always a pleasure and a help to have her with us. She is happy to go to the grocery store, start the laundry or cook dinner – whatever the situation needs; it has been like having a 3rd parent in our family. She is a cautious driver, and always has good common sense when making decisions for our children. She has never been the nanny sitting on the bench on her phone at the playground; instead she is playing hide and go seek with them, pushing them on swings or making up a game for them to play with other friends. She is never looking at her watch to leave “the job” and is always on-time and available when needed. She doesn’t view caring for children as a “job” as she really puts her heart into them and she truly adores children. Every family we know tells us how lucky we have been to have had her in our lives, and we agree. We met Katia when we lived in Miami and she cared for our young son 4 days a week. When we moved to Connecticut and had our second child, she moved in with us and lived with us for years. We recently moved to Idaho and our living situation here does not allow for a caregiver to live with us anymore, so we had to say goodbye, but we miss her terribly every day and our kids call her a few times a week. Any family would be incredibly lucky to have her!
