After graduating with my master’s degree in anthropology from Tulane University, I was swept into the role of General Manager at a four-star boutique hotel in New Orleans. Some of the numerous responsibilities of this position included property management, managing a small staff of around eight individuals, bookkeeping, guest relations, event planning, digital marketing, social networking, PR management, and the construction of a new website. While I enjoyed my time there immensely, I ultimately decided to leave with the hopes of securing a long-term childcare position where the softer, more caring side of my personality can flourish away from a corporate environment.
Growing up with a large extended family, I have always been naturally drawn to the role of childcare. While many of my personal and professional accomplishments extend beyond the realm of nannying, I’ve never had more job satisfaction than when working with children. I worked as a nanny and babysitter throughout my years at university, organizing school pick-up, dinner, and homework help after finishing my course hours.
In addition to my academic and professional accomplishments, I have completed a 200-hours internationally certified yoga teacher training program. I have a strong mind-body awareness practice in the form of yoga and meditation, and have utilised these skills with children in the past as a form of stress management and promotion of emotional and physical self-awareness. A generally creative person, I also love to engage with imaginative nature of children in both learning and play, integrating art and storytelling into my time with them.
My I have worked with children with ADD and ADHD, children requiring medication, children requiring special diets, I’m comfortable administering an epi-pen, and would be comfortable learning to work with children on the spectrum or with other special developmental needs. I love and am comfortable with pets of any kind (barring crocodiles), and would be most comfortable working with a family with up to three children anywhere from 18 months to 14 years of age. Most of my professional experience is with children ages 2-10.
’m available for both a long term or short term commitment, but would be excited to find a family who was looking to work together for at least a year. I speak and can teach both English and Spanish. Although I’m currently located in the United States, I am hoping to find work internationally and am willing to relocate almost anywhere.
