Hi my name is Martha . I am a 33 year old Mexican-American who speaks fluent Spanish. I am the CEO to my art non-profit. It’s a startup, which is why I still need to work. I love children and I get a long with them so well. I am creative, nurturing, fun, responsible, and reliable. Not to mention I’m also a scholar so I can help with any homework questions they’ll have. My qualities as a caregiver is that I’m a nurturer by nature. I’m an active listener. I know how to communicate well with children. I understand them and I’m empathic. I have experience creating games that suite your child’s way of playing. I’m active, I know how to play softball, volleyball, swimming, and basketball. I like board games as well! I love animals too. My sisters call me an animal whisperer. I’ve cared for my two younger sisters growing up. As an adult I cared for three little ones for over 5 years. I’m also very crafty and I don’t like to watch television as much. I love to read! Im also a great storyteller and children love when I read to them. And I love to cook! If I do watch something on television, it’s usually one of Gordon Ramsay’s cooking shows, like Next Level Chef. I love being helpful and tidying up, it’s a philosophy of mine that everything has its place and should go back to where it belongs. My other philosophy is not using the word “no” as much, I much rather redirect the question to where the child understands why “it’s not okay” to do something so that they can understand why they can’t do it. I learned those philosophies as a caregiver for Cal State Long Beach, it’s not on my resume because I was a caregiver for only a week before my grandfather passed away and I couldn’t work due to grieving. My grandfather showed me the way of life, so it was very hard on me and my family. I love going on walks with my puppy Frida Kahlo. She is being trained to be a psychiatric service dog, she helps my sister with her depression and anxiety. So if you don’t mind having her around that would be great as well!
